Ryan Philpott beat the rain and the rest of the 21-car NASCAR Western Late Model field at Altamont Motorsports Park on Saturday.

Philpott won his second main event in as many tries, taking control early in the scheduled 50-lap race and then the checkered flag on the 34th lap after it was called due to rain. The Tracy driver, who was the fast qualifier at 99.993 mph, started in the sixth position and was able to complete his race before the rest of the program was washed out by rain.

The inverted start put Philpott in the sixth position, but he needed just seven laps to move up to second place behind Tim Spurgeon. After a restart on lap 10, Philpott moved past Spurgeon into the lead with a pass in turn No. 4.

Spurgeon was second and was followed by Justin Philpott, Ryan's cousin.

The West Car Late Model Touring Series was cancelled because of the weather.
