CRASHED CARS AND BENT SHEET METAL AT MADERA!

On what was perhaps one of the most entertaining shows in years, the crowd of just under 1,000 people watched the sparks fly in both the 200 lap enduro and the crazy pavement destruction derby.

David Pabst outran everyone in the first 100 laps of the enduro, but was run down in the second 100 laps by Ben Lewis. Just as Lewis got to the back bumper of Pabst he was involved in the biggest accident of the night. From that point on it was all Pabst as he paced the field to the checkered flag. Joe Addison and co-driver Doug Mang finished second, Loren Chitwood (that’s a famous name in crazy driving!) finished third, Ben Lewis finished fourth, and the fast young lady named Timber Cookson rounded out the top five.

Then it was time for what was possibly the most hard hitting destruction derby in History. After more than 30 minutes of bone crushing impacts, it came down to two very brave (and crazy) drivers. As the crowd was cheering as though they were in a Roman Stadium, the two drivers positioned their battered cars at opposite ends of the playing field, just as two giant rams would do in an outdoor fight the two gladiators charged towards each other building speed with fire shooting out of their exhaust pipes, and then they meet head on at the start finish line. When the smoke cleared and the crowd cheered, the car of Brandon Holt was the only one left running, as he had delivered the knock out punch to Curtis Van Foeken, Doug Holt finished third, Nick Smith came in fourth, and Leonard Stanfill rounded out the top five.

The next event is the HotWood Tri-Holiday Classic on May 26th!
