Engine Claim:
The inclusion of an engine claim rule within the framework of the Grand American Modified division rules is essential to the success of the division. The claim rule is designed to help control the cost of racing while, at the same time, ensuring closer competition.
Once the top four finishers are in the designated claim area, an eligible driver prepared to claim shall present $850 in cash and a valid NASCAR license to the NASCAR official in charge. The driver subject to claim will either accept or deny the claim. If denied, the competitor is subject to refusal penalties. If accepted, the driver making the claim will proceed to the inspection area and be inspected for the following:
* Weight of car with driver--minimum 2,500 lbs.
* Wheel base minimum of 108-inches.
* Ground clearance four-inches (measured to lowest point on frame rails) with driver.
* Engine height minimum no less than 11-inches from ground to front center of crankshaft.
If the car claiming is deemed legal, the claim may proceed. If claiming car does not meet criteria set forth for inspection, monies will be returned and claim dropped.
At no time during this procedure will a protest be considered in an effort to stop a claim. A protest will only affect points, money and position. The claim rule and protest procedure are separate issues and will not interfere with each other.
It is important that race officials handle all claims swiftly; and for all participants to remember that the claim rule is in place to help the division, not complicate it, and that when you enter, you are subjecting yourself to it.
Engine Claim
1. The claiming driver must pay $850.00 plus the heads and
intake manifold from the engine in his car.
2. Claim includes rocker arm assembly, stud girdles (if used), valve covers, and
intake manifold.
3. First four finishers (whether running or nor) are subject to claim by any
other driver finishing fifth or back in feature on the same lap as the leader.
4. Each driver is allowed to make only one claim per event, regardless of
outcome of
first claim. In case of multiple claims on involving the same car, heads and
intake will go to qualified claiming driver finishing farthest back.
5. Driver wishing to make claim must drive his car immediately after finish of
feature under its own power directly to claiming area. Only drivers and
officials allowed in claiming area. Driver must present $850.00 in cash, a valid
NASCAR license and verbal declaration to official in charge of his intention to
claim.

and also suspension of car and driver from NASCAR events for 30 calendar days
from date of refusal and until $1,000.00 cash fine is paid to Speedway. Second
refusal also results in loss of points, suspension for 60-days and a $2,000.00
fine.
12. Refusal of claim also results in forfeiture of all cash and contingency
winnings for feature, as well as trophies and all NASCAR region points for
season. Any driver refusing to sell and swap components, when claimed within the
rules, regardless of his reinstatement with NASCAR, loses his right to claim any
NASCAR driver's heads and intake for 12 calendar months from date of refusal to
sell or swap.
13. All monies forfeited will be deposited into the Speedway's banquet fund.
14. Any driver found to be claiming heads and intake for anyone but
himself/herself is subject to loss of all points, fine and/or suspension as is
the driver or drivers who conspire to do so.
15. Any sabotage discovered to engines involved in claim will result in the
driver and car being suspended for 30 days and until $1,000 cash fine is paid to
Speedway. (Claim will be disallowed and the money returned to the claimer or
disbursed at the official's discretion.)
16. No devices allowed making engine appear like it is blowing up.

off and proceeds go to banquet fund.
22. Any driver letting their pit crew get involved in any way during an engine
claim is subject to fine, penalty or disqualification or all of the preceding.
23. Only drivers in the top 15 in championship points at Stockton 99 Speedway
are eligible to use the claim rule. However, all entrants finishing in the top
four positions are subject to claim. On opening day, only the top 15 from the
prior season are eligible to use the claim rule.
24. The first four finishers must report directly to the designated claim area
immediately following the completion of the main event. Failure to do so will
result in automatic disqualification from the race and loss of points and purse
monies.
25. NASCAR officials reserve the right to make any necessary changes, deletions
and/or modifications to these rules with one-week notice to competitors.
26.Only the driver and crew chief are allowed in the claim area during the 5 minute time limit. Any crew members or owners in the claim area during the 5 minute time limit will be subject to a point deduction or fine.

4. Officials reserve the right to confiscate and hold any parts and/or equipment not conforming to the rules.
5. Officials reserve the right to judge, decide and establish what constitutes a legal part or car.
