I assume you have all seen the reports about how Sears is treating its reservist employees who are called up?  By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more.  Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up...
Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years.  I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution.

I suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.

Pass it on.

We've lost #87, Johnny Unger. To Terry and the entire family we want to express our heartfelt sorrow and great sense of loss. Johnny was truly one of us, actually grew-up with Stockton 99, and we consider the Unger Family part of the Speedway family. Please click here to read Scott Linesburg's tribute to John.

Johnny Unger
Carr Motorsports and STS would like to express their sincere sympathy to Terry, Shelby, and all that have been affected by the passing of Johnny. As always, it hits hard when one of our "family" members has passed on. We will all certainly miss his smile and warm hello as he would pass by in the pits. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

ATTENTION ALL PURESTOCK DRIVERS, AND CAR OWNERS

TO HELP KEEP THE COST DOWN ON THE PURE STOCK CLASS FOR THE 2003 SEASON, WE HERE AT JJMOTORSPORTS HAVE FOUND 2 LOCAL BUSINESSES TO HELP OUT ON THE NEW RULE FOR TIRES THIS YEAR, AS YOU ALL SHOULD KNOW BY NOW 15 INCH RSA'S ARE HARD TO LOCATE. ST0CKTON 99 SPEEDWAY HAS CHANGED THE RULE SO THAT YOU MAY RUN EITHER 15 INCH OR 16 INCH WHEELS AND TIRES THIS YEAR.

STOCKTON WHEEL @ 648 W FREMONT STREET IN STOCKTON HAS ORDERED THE STAMPED CENTERS THAT OUR CLASS REQUIRES. THEY DONT EVEN MAKE THEM STOCK, SO HE DID THIS JUST FOR US. HE HAD TO ORDER A HIGH VOLUME IN ORDER TO KEEP THE COST DOWN, WHICH IN RETURNS KEEPS OUR PRICE AS LOW AS POSSIBLE. HE IS OFFERING THE RACING WHEELS THAT WE ALL RUN AT $65.00 PER WHEEL IF YOU LET HIM KNOW THAT JEFF SAUNDERS SENT YOU. OTHER WISE THE WALK IN PRICE IS MUCH HIGHER.

BRANNAN TIRE ON WILSON WAY IS OFFERING THE USED RSA, FIREHAWKS, AND WHAT EVER ELSE THEY HAVE IN THE USED AREA FOR US, AT $25.00 PER TIRE. AGAIN YOU NEED TO MENTION THAT YOU DRIVE IN THE PURESTOCK CLASS, AND JEFF SAUNDERS SENT YOU TO GET THIS PRICE. YOU NEED TO GO IN AND SEE EITHER JAMIE( PRONOUNCED HY-ME) OR JUAN ANYTIME AFTER MONDAY MARCH 17, 2003 AND THEY WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR SELECTION. THEY HAVE ABOUT 900 TIRES FOR US, BUT WE ALL KNOW THEY GO FAST, SO HURRY, HURRY, HURRY, WHILES SUPPLIES LAST.

HERE AT JJMOTORSPORTS HOPE THAT THIS HELPS ALL PURESTOCK RACE TEAMS AT THE 99 SPEEDWAY, AND WISH EVERYONE GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON.

SEE YOU AT THE RACES.

New Suspension System

I don't know if any of your racers would be interested and would appreciate any info you could send to me about contacting the builders.  Feel free to forward this message to anyone you feel might be interested

My dad patented a Tilting Wheel Vehicle Suspension System and built a full scale prototype.  This new system allows all four wheels to simultaneously tilt into a turn similar to the way a motorcycle leans over into a turn.  This ability provides several advantages including:

1. distributing weight  to the inside of a turn
2. lowering the center of gravity
3. Virtually eliminating body tilt during cornering
4.  increasing cornering speed
5. enhancing vehicle maneuverability
6. simplifies aerodynamics
7. using more horsepower for motion rather than traction.

We think that this could be adapted for the type of racers at your speedway and might provide a vital advantage.  We can send pictures and even a video clip showing the prototype in action.

Thanks,
Walter Metcalf

We've posted your info Walter, but we don't know if this would be legal at our track.

Chuck Ellis
We laid Chuck to rest Monday, several from the track that know him showed up, We, his family, want to thank you so much. He did love racing, and even more so the racing at 99. Our grandmother would take us there when we were very young. We would go to watch our then  uncle Johnny Brazil and later our family friend Dale Linville run his stock car. He never did have a bad word to say anyone. We will not ever go to 99 without thinking of him
Thank you from his family

Long time Stockton 99 driver Johnny Unger, #87, has been diagnosed with liver cancer and is going through chemo therapy for it. John said the chemo is "really rough", but he sounded good on the phone and is looking forward to being part of 99's 2003 Season. Please keep John and the Unger family in your prayers and help them recover from this.

Chris Crawford
It has been awhile since we have raced at "99" but I try to keep updated by logging on to your site. We raced the # 76 Ford GAM . When it came time for the main, I always tried to position myself in the infield near the Crawford car... They were always so good to me and always so happy when we did well, as we were for them. I am sorry to say I have no info. on the loss of their son Chris. Could you please e-mail me the info. as i would like to send them our thoughts. Thank You, Howard & Kelly Hoffman
Thanks for writing, we miss you at 99!

Dallas Bache
Howdy.
I'm the webmaster for the California Highways page. I'm trying to research some of the names given to highways in the states. One of them, on Route 99 in your area, is the Dallas Bache Memorial Bridge. From doing some searches on the internet, it looks like he was a racecar driver from Delhi California that raced often at your track.I'd like to put something on my pages to preserve for the world who and what this man was. If you have a short biographical paragraph, I'd welcome it.
Thanks,
Daniel                             W/H: faigin@aero.org/faigin@pacificnet.net http://www.pacificnet.net/~faigin/

Spotter stand

I am the spotter for the #63 Late Model car. I would like to see the location moved for the spotters from turn 4 to the top of the main grandstand. It is to hard for us to see the hole track. It is a safety issue a lot of the spotter move to the top of the main grandstand. It would be in the tracks best interest to have us in one location with are car # visible so that the track official can communicate with each spotter if need-be. I think the perfect location would be next to the scoring tower.

Thank you for your time.

Jo,  I am so very sorry to hear of your loss.  Jim was a great man, he was kind to everyone, never heard him say a harsh word about another person.  Since our move out of California, we haven't had the opportunity to get back to the track and I truly regret not being able to see him again.  But the memories that we have from when we left will always be strong and true in our minds.  Please be strong, knowing that Jim is watching from above all that is going on.  He has the best seat right now, he is with Fred Tice and Boro.  They will keep the score up there.  Our prayers are with you and your family.  All our love Jeff and Stacie Lee.
