One year that we came to 99 speedway you guys had what you called a soap race. are you going to have that this year?

You're referring to the Enduro we've run in early October the last few years. We didn't schedule an Enduro this year, preferring to have tomorrow's OPEN COMPETITION instead!!

Corey Petero

Hello,
My name is Ron Rust. I was working with Corey about two years ago along with Herb Knoble trying to get him a sponsor. Well, to make a long story short I have a very large sponsor that wants to run all next season. My problem is I cannot get in touch with him and I was wondering if you might be able to help me as I would really like to see this sponsor on a car next year. If not Corey maybe another car. I will give you my phone # and feel free to pass it along to Corey or another car that needs a sponsor. Time is very important since this sponsor is very eager to sign with someone. If you could help I would be very grateful. 650-224-1857 Thanks for your help.
Sincerely: Ron Rust

Johnny Brazil?
I have not lived in Manteca for over 15 years, but read with sadness about Larry Brazil's death.  When I lived in Manteca during the 80's, I was introduced to Johnny Brazil (an idol of mine) and over time came to know his son Larry, and did some work for him on his contracting equipment.   Prior to the 1986 season at Stockton, I was asked by Johnny to be a crew member for his racing team, an experience I still hold dear to my heart to this day.  I was wondering what ever happened to Johnny Brazil and when did he finally retire.  Is there an email address where I could possibly get in touch with him?

I love your web-sight and I still see some names who were around when I worked for Johnny.  Keep up the great work!

Respectfully,

Dave Hall

Nascar Mechanic of the Year
Please vote Jacob Pitt for the regional Nascar Mechanic of the year. Do not let your ballotts go to waste. He is one of the mechanics for the #5 WLM Anderson Racing Team. He has also put alot of time in other divisions as well ( Stearns Racing #3 GAM, Joe Allen #03 Pure Stock and more). He is a dedicated worker day and night until the job(s) are done. This is a family member of his that is just trying to spread the word for the votes. If you notice in the Nascar magazine for September 2003 he has been selected as Stockton 99 Speedway's Mechanic of the Year, now he only has another round of votes to go for the Regional. If you would like to vote please make sure you list his name Jacob Pitt and Lic # 0000257563FDC. It would be greatly appreciated.

Shiels and Unger

I raced against Johnny for several years in the late '70's and 80's and always found him to be a "gentleman racer". He will rest in peace knowing he did his best and did not "take out the leader to win".  We will miss him.

On Jim Shiels, he was a friend and a buddy for many years from Stockton and Altamont to the "All PRO" series that Tony Noceti tried to make happen. Jim was also the reporter at All American Speedway in Roseville for the ROSE Classic.  Remember that one?  Jim and I were always friendly and he was always interested in "what was happening on the inside of racing".  He was a friend and a great guy who cared about all the racers.  We will miss both he and Johnny.  I hope my nephew Jason, who races Grand Americans at Stockton, ,continues to compete in the spirit of both these gentlemen.  They were true racers and fans of the sport.

Pure Stock racer needs help!!!!!!
This is my first year racing and I'm in the process of building a 77 Buick Regal. I need some info from a fellow racer on the following. Don't worry, I just hope to race around the track in one piece. I went into the pits last Saturday and noticed almost everybody is using Goodyear Eagle RS-A's. Is there a tire shop that sells them at a discounted price for the track? Do you buy them new, used?? Around what rear end gear should I run, I'm using the stock Olds 350 and TH350 trans??? Any rumors of changes to the rules for next year???? I was told you can rent the track on Friday nights, is this true and how much does this cost????? Do you need a NASCAR license for practice nights?????? Any help would be appreciated. If anybody lives in Lodi and wouldn't mind me looking at their car and asking questions that would be great. Give me a call or send me an email. Thanks, Scott (707)249-6590

Memorial for Don Tuggle
Guibor Racing and the entire Tuggle family would like to thank the Speedway, Sammy Solari and all the drivers for the nice memorial tribute to our loving father and grandfather last Saturday.  It touched the hearts of all the family members in attendance, as well as those that were not able to attend.  Pops loved to work on the car during the week and was his grandsons #1 supporter.  He cherished all the wonderful people that he met over the years.  Remember that he may not be at the race track in person each Saturday but his spirit will be.

Once again thank you for the kind words and the victory lap.

I'm BAAAACK!!!!!
Hello everyone at Stockton Speedway. It's great to have another winter behind us.
This is Tim (Papa Smurf) Farquhar, 69 Legends car, coming to you from Reno, Nevada.
If you remember, I had a very spectacular crash there at the end of the 2001 season, this crash is still talked about in the area.
I am coming to your track on May 17th to race and to show my appreciation to the fans, the ambulance company, the track crews, the other crews and drivers (not all from our division) and anyone else that is affiliated with Stockton Speedway for their concern and hard work in keeping your track a fun and safe place to watch and race. This will be the first time back on the track since the wreck and I am looking forward to seeing all of you.

Thank you,
Tim Farquhar, 69 Legends car

Hey guys,

I just wanted to say how much I miss the racing at Stockton.  I am enjoying life out here in Tenn.  I am glad that I can see how all of the drivers are doing by checking the web-page.  It was really nice to see that some of the drivers have moved up into different divisions.  I just wanted to wish all the drivers and officials the best of luck this weekend and this season.  Maybe I will be able to make it out there for a race this season.

Thanks for the support!

Thank you to everyone who attended John's memorial service.  It was a wonderful show of support for Shelby and I.
The turn out was amazing and I was overwhelmed. Also, thanks for any cards sent or telephone calls or even a kind word of support on opening day.  It is very heartwarming to know how many people also realized what a wonderful person John was besides a great competitor. Shelby and I greatly miss him.
