sponsor list

Hi...... I was browsing through your website to double-check when opening day is because I have a 5 year son who is a big fan of 99 Speedway and is sooo anxious to start going to the races. I've been taking him since he was 2. I was looking through your sponsor list to see if I can spot my Father's business who has been a proud sponsor for many years and has done work for your track.......but I didn't see his name. His business is Robert Burns Construction and I did find a nice picture of his business ad on the billboard (which I happily printed out and will give to him) but was disappointed he wasn't on the sponsor list. I hope that he can be put on the sponsor list and it was just an oversight.  My friends and family and I love seeing his name and business up on the billboard every Saturday night when we go. His grandson is so proud to see his Grandpa's name up there and think it's so cool. We look forward to the racing season and my son is most anxious!
Thanks for all the fun for my family!
Sincerely,
Alyssa Kalba (Burns)

Alyssa,

Your Dad has been very, very helpful in keeping 99 Speedway in great shape! Thanks for the note, I've added his name to the sponsor list.

How did you guys have a USAC midget race race in 1947?  USAC held their first race in
1955.
Great knowledge, sorry for the oversight. We should have said "Midget Race"!!

Track Specifications ...

Hello,

I am trying to get a hold of the track specifications for Stockton 99 Speedway.
Banking, Turn radii, Track width, Front and back stretch length & banking transitions ... and any other info that would be helpful in aiding me to Model a reasonable facsimile of my local favorite Short track into Papyrus/Sierra "NASCAR Racing 2003 simulation" race game for the PC.

Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated.

stockton99webpagehistory
Thank you for the fine, fine web page. I particularly like the history pages.. I lived in central California for about 50 years and know, knew many of the names mentioned in the history. While I was unable to attend the races much since the early '60's, I have always had an interest in what's going on..
I have questions about one of the particular drivers. Apparently Johnny Brazil raced there for many years.. (IS HE RETIRED NOW?). Reading the history shows references over a 30 year period. Also he set a track record in 1985? that is apparently still standing.. Is that because of a special class or car or something? It seems highly improbable that a record could be so unbreakable.
Is Brazil still around? Will there be any special mention of him in web archives?. He seems to have made a dramatic charge once or twice and is obviously way above average in the 99 speedway history.
I did not really have any special interest of Brazil, until I noticed the absolute track record he apparently STILL HOLDS.

THANK YOU FOR FINE WEB PAGE

Subject: John Moore (Stockton99Speedway) I don't know if this is something for the paper or not, but I had to write it...
The man has lived his whole life with courage.  From the years of winning championships on the dirt tracks of motocross, to having his gloved fist raised in victory at center ring of the Western United States Golden Glove Boxing Championships final, to victory lane these past several years at Stockton 99 Speedway, the man lived with courage.  Now, in his toughest of tests, he took the podium and gazed out over the 700-strong crowd, which had gathered to mourn the tragic death of his eldest son, 15 year old J.D Moore. The teenager, himself the veteran of over 1000 motocross and go-cart races and earning numerous championships along the way, became the first-ever behind-the-wheel fatality at Stockton 99 Speedway in 60 years this past Oct. 16th.  The stock-car he was driving exploded in flames as it hit the wall.  His father was in a full sprint towards the crash before it even hit the wall, and immediately threw himself into the flames to extricate his son. But the father's resulting third degree burns to his face and upper torso, along with burned lungs, turned out to be for naught.  Sadly, the youth had already succumbed to blunt force trauma to the head.
How could a man who has lived through what he had been through the past week, suffering emotional pain in a way few of us could ever understand,  summon the strength to speak to the somber throng gathered for the funeral exactly seven days after he had watched his son perish in such a way?  With his face still bright red from his own serious injuries, he cleared his throat.  Through welled-up eyes he addressed the audience in a clear and strong voice.  He spoke of a son chasing his own destiny, pursuing the dream of being a champion racer.  He spoke of family and he spoke of faith.  He spoke with conviction and inspiration, and when he was done, the large audience knew it had witnessed something truly special.
As the service ended, this larger-than-life man had one final, grim task.   He arose from his seat and stationed himself at the left-forward position of his son's casket.  He then visibly set his jaw and with a steely stare straight ahead through the still-welled-up eyes, helped carry his eldest son, J.D. Moore, to his final resting place.
I have seen courage face to face, eye to eye.  I have encountered courage at Bay Side Church in Roseville this past Saturday and I have learned that courage has a name.  That name is John Carl Moore, 41 years old, from Granite Bay, Calif.
We all can only hope that when we face our test, we can measure up the the standard John Moore has set.

GAM Modified Driver MIA?
Hi,
What ever happened to GAM driver, #10a, Jay Linstroth from Citrus Hieghts ... his last appearence was like 5 races ago now ... he showed up with a new mod and placed poorly losing the battle with #34 Ted Montague on more than one occasion ...Did he get suspended ... find a new place to race ... or just abandoned the sport?

Subject: What happened to Charlie Clawson?
On July 10th's race, Charlie Clawson was forced to drive another car (#11) after his usual #15 ride was found to have 3 cubic inches too many ... (360 limit).
This meant he was to start at the back of the pack in the "B" main, which he won hands down by runing away from the field.
However, He did not race in the "A" main ... What happened? another DQ? and if this is true ... Should the "RAT's" car be checked as well (#66) as all 3 of the Team Clawson cars have been really strong all season.
David Jensen
Mr. Jensen
Mr. Clawson failed his cubic inches test by 13 points. In which his car couldn't compete in the race. He ask if could race other car sense it was a qualified car we said yes, but it must pass track record procedures. His response was ok no problem. He failed ride height of 5"inwhich he was 3 3/4" which makes to low by 1 1/4". As far 66 car he did go through some tech an failed early in day but fixed before qualifying.

Benjamin Stone [BCannonball@comcast.net]
Thu 6/17/04 7:27 PM
First of all, I would like to say thank you to the fans that contributed top my father Donald Stone that drive's the #1 Legend Race Car.  Their at the Stockton 99 Speedway there was a really bad accident with his race car.  What did happenedd is that the #0 race car bumped another race car (the #24) car & that race car (#24) hit my father race car.  He what we all lost on the car:
    1.  We lost the tire's & ream's
    2.  All four Shock's
    3.  Fender's (only two)
    4.  Bumper's  (Only two on the car itself)
    5.  Alot of big back that go in the back of the race car where the gas goes to towards the back of the car.
The total number of time that my Dad, Donald Stone flipped his car was:  3-4 time's
First of all, We (the crew) all would like to thank the fans for their donation's & support throughout the whole night.  My Dad had the crew of Mr. Benjamin Stone & Donald Stone as the driver.  He only had one pick-crew member that night.  So I (Benjamin Stone) was really busy that night.
As the driver's son just watching the race that night, I was scared & nervous at the same time.  I called my friend right away when that happened.  His name is Joshua.  He wasn't their when it happened or anything like, but he is a big supporter of that Legend Race Car.  I told him what happened over the phone & everything & he couldn't believe it when I told him.  After that phone call I called my brother Aric Stone & told him & he couldn't believe it either.  That is another son of the driver..  We all supported him in the race.  We had very fast time's in qualifying until that wreck happened.  I just want to let everyone know that my father Donald Stone is doing fine.
When that happened I was sitting at the top of the hill where the handy cap spot's are & I had to rush down the Hill.
My Dad, Donald Stone is doing fine & the whole bit like that, but everybody has to understand that can happen to anybody. After that happen to his car putting it away in the trailer was the hardest thing for everybody that helped including myself.

With the economy issues and everyone having to be on strict budgets to make ends meet, the new pricing is just what we needed to hear.
We have been to the track a few times this season and were debating how we would be able to afford coming as often as we like to. Our family is 2 adults and 3 children (ages 6,9 & 12) and there is always one child who wants to bring a friend.  This is a great incentive to bring the family and enjoy the races more often.
We have many friends who feel the same, and we will definitely be sharing the information with others who are also looking for the best family entertainment values available.
Keep up the great work on the website. It allows us to know what is happening each week, and keeps us in touch with any changing information.
Congratulations, on all of the new changes we have seen at 99.
We will Definitely be back, (and often) this season.

Howdy, Our track Promoter has told me the 2004 schedule is almost complete. He is working on two special shows and when they're firm we'll post the new schedule. This will keep us from posting a schedule then constantly revising it. Get ready, we'll start mid-March!!!
