Also competing at the track Saturday night are the NASCAR Grand American Modified drivers, California Mini Racing Association Mini Cup drivers and USAC Ford Focus Midgets! WLM, Pro-4 Trucks. In HAVOLINE Western Late Model racing action, points leader John Moore will continue his quest to honor the memory of his late son JD with a division championship. So far this season Granite Bay’s Moore has proven that he is a top-contender for the division, racking up three top-10 finishes with two division sweeps. Trailing Moore in the points race is Pete Anderson Jr. Stockton’s Anderson Jr. has three top five finishes this season, including a win in the season opening 100-lap main event. With double points on the line Saturday night, Moore is going to have to be at his best to maintain the lead, and Anderson Jr. is going to have to turn it up a notch if he hopes to have a shot at capturing it.
Moore and Anderson Jr., although tops in the WLM field, aren’t the only drivers who have a legitimate shot at taking Saturday’s main. Also in the hunt, and ready to add excitement to the quarter-mile oval field, will be third through fifth place division points holders Allison Duncan of San Rafael, Gary Shafer Jr. of Stockton and Los Altos’ Mark Holeman. Duncan has been consistently working her way closer and closer to a first place main event finish. If she does, fans on hand will witness the first time in Stockton 99 Speedway’s history that a female will have captured a late model stock car main event win.
Fans may also get to see 2004 champ Dave Byrd on the track. Ray Miller of Miller Motorsports said that if everything goes well in testing this week, that Byrd would be behind the wheel of the team’s late model Dodge Intrepid."We want to be in the 100’s," said Miller, referencing the Saturday, May 28 Tri-Holiday 100-lap race that Byrd is to compete in. "We want to get in at least one main before then." Campbell’s Chris Drysdale will be back behind the wheel of the Miller Motorsports Pro-4 Truck. Drysdale, who is leading the division in points, should expect a challenge Saturday. Also expected back on the track are fourth through fifth place points holders Mark Henslee of French Camp, Lodi’s Mike Curry, Lodi’s Danny Basto and Oakdale’s Nathan McNeil.
CL BRYANT American Limited Stock Car fans know that there’s no predicting what might happen in this division’s main events. During the last one, Stockton’s Kannai Scantlen took the win, but only after some "peculiar antics," which at times turned the infield’s dirt shoulder into the inside lane. Expected back on the track Saturday night is Scantlen, and all of the division’s top five points holders, including Stockton’s Richard Harper, Modesto’s Charlie Clawson, Manteca’s Boyd Camper and Stockton’s Chad Holman.
Grand American Modified drivers will be back on the track Saturday. During the Saturday, May 7 race fans saw some intense race drama unfold, with Citrus Height’s Jay Linstroth and Sacramento’s Jason Philpot battling so hard for first that each lost control to the point of not being able to complete the race. Philpot is at fifth in points standings, expected back on the track are top four points holders Kyle Gotulla of Modesto, Ripon’s Mike Regelman, Salida’s Sam Solari and Dixon’s Jerry Dubach.

Saturday night race fans will get to watch the race series that generated top-level stock car drivers like these -- the USAC Ford Focus Midgets. This entry level USAC race series features midget cars that rocket around the track.
