COORS DOUBLE  50 LAP MAIN EVENTS   FOR THE C.L. BRYANT ALSC AND GRAND AMERICAN MODIFIEDS, PLUS WESTERN LATE MODELS, PRO 4 TRUCKS, AND CMRA

STOCKTON -- In the final 50 laps of Last Saturday’s HAVOLINE Western Late Model Main event, Stockton’s #5 Pete Anderson, Jr. lunged ahead of the pack far enough to secure the win, and position himself at the top of the division’s points race. He proved that he has the car, experience and skill needed to lead the points battle, however, this Saturday he will have to fend off a win-hungry group of competitors to hold it.

Following the win, Anderson, Jr. moved 2 points ahead of second place points holder, #20, Allison Duncan of San Rafael, 290-289. Duncan, Stockton 99 Speedway’s NASCAR Diversity Program female driver, is aching for a win, and she too has shown the NASCAR DODGE Weekly Series field that she has the car and skill needed to get one. She has three consecutive second place main event finishes and it seems that she is on the verge of soon getting her first win at the track.

Thirty points away from the top is Granite Bay’s #27, John Moore. So far this season Moore has finished every Western Late Model race in the top 10, with two division sweeps. In the last two main events he had some trouble, mechanical and collision related, but his skill and backing will surely soon to prevail, which will likely put him right back on track to the top.

The only thing for certain in this premier division points hunt, is that it is still a hunt, with a lot of stalking left to do en route to the prize.

Saturday night the exciting Grand American Modified division will be back on the track for a 50-lap main event. This division points race is closer than the Western Late Model race, with two drivers, Ripon’s #66, Mike Regelman and Dixon’s #42, Jerry Dubach, tied at 191. Regelman has said that he is going to have to miss at least one main event this season, so fans can be sure that he is going to be gunning for a sweep in order to secure a safe lead.

On Regelman and Dubach’s tails are Sacramento’s Jason Philpot (187) and Citrus Heights’ Jay Linstroth (183). These two competitors are only 4 and 8 points away from the lead, and this season each has proven capable of winning.

Also racing a main event Saturday night are the Pro-4 Trucks. Leading the pack in this division is Lodi’s #48, Mike Curry with 291. Trailing him is Lathrop’s #6, Mark Henslee with 276. Even this spread isn’t large enough to prevent a change in leadership, a division sweep could make a difference.

About the only division where a driver has a semi-comfortable lead in the points race is in the CL BRYANT American Limited Stock Cars. There, Modesto’s #15,Charlie Clawson in out in front with 318 to second place holder #5, Richard Harper’s 285. However, in the ALSC some of the most fearless, risk-takers aren’t able top race every week, but when they do show up, they put on shows that can’t be beat! You just never know when Stockton’s #8, Kannai Scantlen is going to jump into the mix with Clawson, or when Stockton’s Ken Ratcliff is going to slug it out with Harper, or how record holder #99 Donny Darter, of Stockton, is going to perform. You really need to be there to catch the excitement in these races.

This Saturday the excitement will double, as the division is running a 50-lap main!Fans don’t forget, also at the track this Saturday will be the future all stars of the California Mini Racing Association Mini Cups. These cars might be mini, but the show is anything but small.
