August 13th, Grand National West Series Returns!!!!
NASCAR GRAND NATIONAL WEST SERIES 200-LAP CHAMPIONSHIP RACE COMING

LEGENDARY SINGER, ACTOR, TV STAR, SONGWRITER AND AUTO RACING FAN PAT BOONE TO START RACE

--WLM’s to run 50-lap race, 15 or more earns all drivers $100 in tow money
--CL BRYANT ALSC to run 30-lap main event

Pat BooneSTOCKTON – NASCAR’s NEXTEL Cup events are world-class sports extravaganzas, they offer something for all fans’ tastes and often attract internationally known celebrities to the grandstands. This Saturday, August 13 Stockton 99 Speedway will join that world-class rank when it not only thrills fans with over 250 laps of racing, but also welcomes international platinum recording star, television star, actor and songwriter Pat Boone.

Boone, a long time racing fan, will make a personal appearance and then wave the green flag for the start of the Fourth Annual NASCAR Grand National Division West Series DODGE COUNTRY/NAPA AUTO PARTS 200-lap race by HAVOLINE. Boone’s appearance is in conjunction with the release of his new CD, “Ready to Rock”.

Ready to Rock is a country album, the lead single “NASCAR Time” is about NASCAR racing at different tracks all over the country and is a sort of NASCAR anthem, according to Boone’s record company.

There are already 20 drivers registered to race, a perfect number of cars for a championship event on NASCAR’s fastest quarter-mile oval west of the Mississippi.

On the track for the $100,000-plus purse race will be West Series points leader Scott Lynch, (left), of Idaho. Lynch won the April 30 150-lap Stockton race, he has the most West Series wins with two, and five top five finishes and six top 10 endings.

Also among those entered to race are Nevada’s Steve Portenga, who won two weeks ago at Southern California’s Irwindale Speedway and 2004 champion #9, Mike Duncan (right), of Bakersfield’s, who won last week at Seattle, Washington suburb’s Monroe Evergreen Speedway where he defeated David Gilliland. Local driver Mike David of Modesto, who finished third in the April 30 150-lap race at Stockton and won last year’s 200 will be there as will Indianapolis’ (IN) Sarah Fisher, (Sarah Fisher At 99) who is a five-time Indy 500 starter.

US drivers from Indianapolis, IN, Colorado, Nevada, Washington, Idaho and California won’t be the only ones on the track. Daryl Harr, of St Albert Alberta, Canada, and Takuma Koga, #09, (who's car burnt to the ground last time here!), of Nagoya, Japan, will also join in the race.

Two hundred laps of West Series racing and a performance by a legendary singing artist are reasons enough to come out to Stockton 99 Speedway, but the track is adding even more excitement to the event.

Also on the race card are two NASCAR DODGE Weekly Series main events -- a HAVOLINE Western Late Model 50-lap race and a CL BRYANT American Limited Stock Car 30-lap race.

Anticipation in the HAVOLINE Western Late Model championship race is building. Only 35 points separate the top four drivers, there are only four points nights remaining, which include two 50-lap and two 100-lap races; one of the 100’s is part of a critical double points evening.

Stockton’s Pete Anderson Jr. is leading the pack with 770. Granite Bay’s John Moore is on his tail with 761. San Rafael’s Allison Duncan is sitting in third with 745 and Turlock’s Chris Monez has piloted his STOCKTON DODGE Intrepid into the fourth place slot.

All four of these drivers have won at least one main event, Monez and Moore both have division sweeps under their belts and Moore and Anderson Jr. have proven to be the most adept at capturing 100-lap races. These statistics speak volumes about each drivers’ ability to change things on any given night, but they’re not the only ones who could stir the points pot.

Last week’s main event win by Stockton’s Gary Shafer Jr. and Eric Humphries (Chowchilla) win the week before that, showed race fans that there are no guarantees on the track and that these last races will be challenging -- at the very least.

The CL BRYANT American limited Stock Cars are sure to add a kick to the evening. Last week Modesto’s Charlie Clawson and Stockton’s Chad Holman were locking horns in a battle for first when Holman unexpectedly left the track. Clawson then pulled into the lead and never looked back. This week both are expected back, as are Stockton’s Joe Allen, Richard Harper and Escalon’s Darrell Hughes. When this group of gutsy daredevils hits the asphalt, the crowd is in for an unrivaled show.

Hang on to your hats race fans, the Stockton 99 Speedway Saturday night spectacle won’t end with the West Series, Western Late Models, ALSC and Pat Boone appearance.

The East Coast Heartland-style rock performer J-Henry will also entertain with a 30- minute concert on the front straight prior to the West Series 200. J-Henry was a smash at last week’s Allstate 400 at the Brickyard/Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and he is sure to delight the Stockton 99 Speedway crowd. J-Henry is performing at racing venues across the country through the fall. His first single "Come On" is currently on the "HOT" Adult Contemporary charts and continues to develop at both AAA and Hot AC radio. J-Henry's forthcoming album, "Another Long Day," is due in stores this week. His appearance is pat of the NASCARregionalracing.com Emerging Artist Series.

Saturday is a tow-money night for the Western Late Model field. If 15 or more show-up for racing each will receive $100. For the past two weeks more than 15 drivers have qualified for the main, which bumped the winners purse to $1,000.

Saturday will mark the West Series’ second appearance at Stockton 99 Speedway and HDNET TV will be televising the race live.
