Stockton’s 99 Speedway NASCAR Program Features Triple 50 Lap
Mains This Saturday Night
Stockton’s 99 Speedway will host its NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series program, presented by Havoline/C.L. Bryant, featuring 50 lap mains for the Havoline Western Late Models, Grand American Modifieds and American Limited Stock Cars plus the Legends in a 30- lap feature this Saturday night June 17.
With the 2006 racing season hitting the halfway mark this weekend the championship battles in every division are really beginning to heat up.
Defending track champion Pete Anderson Jr. of Stockton survived a brush with the concrete wall in turn 3 last Saturday night to salvage a seventh place finish in round #5 of the HOTWOOD 1000 Series by JM Environmental/Havoline and maintain his slim lead in both the Havoline Western Late Model regular season points and the HOTWOOD Series standings.
With top five finishes in his last four starts, including a strong third last Saturday, Guy Guibor of Manteca has moved into second place and now trails Anderson by just a 12 points (402-390) in the regular season standings. Eric Humphries of Chowchilla, Ron Strmiska Jr. of Stockton and NASCAR diversity driver Pete Hernandez of Chicago, Illinois round out the top five.
The order remains the same in the HOTWOOD 1000 Series standings, except Guibor and Humphries sit in a flat footed tie for second, trailing Anderson by just a 21 point (343-322) margin.
With over $25,000 in the HOTWOOD prize fund alone, the 14 drivers currently eligible for the HOTWOOD prize fund are all looking at considerable end of year cash bonuses ranging from a minimum of over $850 to a payout in excess of $5,200 for the HOTWOOD champion.
Last Saturday’s HOTWOOD feature drew a field of 20 cars and track officials are hopeful of attracting Havoline Western Late Model car counts of 30 or more in the upcoming weeks that would pay a guaranteed weekly purse of approximately $15,000.
The Grand American Modifieds (GAM) return to the 99 Speedway refreshed and ready for action after having last Saturday off. Jay Linstroth of Citrus Heights remains at the top of GAM standings with a 20-point advantage (266-246) over defending champion Jason Philpot of Sacramento while Galt’s Jason Kerby sits only 18 points below Philpott.
The order in the turbulent American Limited Stock Car (ALSC) class reshuffled following last Saturday’s wild and exciting 30-lap feature in which Stockton’s Pete Anderson Sr. edged Galt’s John Medina and Stockton’s Richard Harper.
Stockton’s Chad Holman emerged as the new leader in the ALSC division thanks to his fourth place finish and the misfortune that befell Escalon’s Darrell Hughes who ended up a disappointing 19th after encountering mechanical problems that forced him to the pits only 8 laps into the feature. The latest ALSC standings show Holman holding a narrow 12-point (444-432) edge over Hughes while Matt Erickson of Ceres sits just 10 points further back with 422 points.
In addition to all the great racing action, adult paying fans in attendance will have a chance to win free concert tickets at the beautiful Ironstone Amphitheatre for either the Steve Miller Band on June 24 or Rob Thomas/Jason Mraz on July 7.
Come out and be a part of all the action as the Stockton 99 Speedway continues with its season long celebration of 60 years of thunder and excitement.
The pit gates will open at 1:00 PM on Saturday June 17, grandstands open at 3:00 PM, qualifying begins at 4:30 PM and the first green flag will wave at approximately 6:00 PM.
Ticket prices this Saturday are only $20.00 for adults, $12.00 for seniors 65 years of age or older, $10.00 for juniors age 13-17, $5.00 for kids age 6-12 and kids 5 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.
